Senior, by design.
Stigian was founded in Norfolk, Virginia in 2015, on a straightforward bet: that a small number of genuinely experienced engineers, kept close to the work, would outperform a large team organized as a pyramid.
Our Approach
Every engineer here holds the title of Principal Engineer. That is not a courtesy title — it reflects who we hire and what we refuse to do, which is put junior staff on a client's clock to learn. Engagements run two to three engineers deep, and the people who scope the work are the people who do it.
We lean on AI-assisted tooling heavily and deliberately, across code generation, documentation, and analysis. It is a meaningful part of why a team this size delivers at the pace it does, and we treat fluency with it as an engineering skill rather than a novelty.
The work sits primarily in the Navy's cloud and architecture enterprise and across the maritime industrial base.
Leadership
Adam Crosby
Founded Stigian in 2015 after leading cloud and security work at Deloitte, including design of the first Department of War–approved system to host sensitive data on commercial cloud and the architecture later standardized as DISA's Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA). Has served on AWS's Customer and GovCloud Advisory Boards, and speaks regularly on shipbuilding modernization and the defense cloud, including at AWS's Defense Industrial Base Day.
LinkedIn
Lori Hendricks
Runs the operations, business, and client-facing functions that let Stigian's engineering staff stay focused on delivery.
Reed Smith
Leads Stigian's internal security posture and oversees security practice standards across client engagements.
Principal Engineers
Every engineer at Stigian holds the title of Principal Engineer — there is no junior tier — and every member of our engineering staff holds an active U.S. security clearance.

Lance Hampton
Leads delivery across multiple SCCA landing zones spanning AWS, GCP, and OCI, and drives adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices across the team. Previously spent seven years as an engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

Aaron Hunnewell
Designs SCCA-compliant cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and OCI for DoW programs, including a Zero Trust pilot spanning nine AWS regions. Previously led cloud infrastructure engineering at MIT and the University of Virginia.

Travis James
Builds cloud-native applications and DevSecOps tooling for Stigian's federal and commercial clients, with a background spanning embedded systems, edge compute, and secure Linux hardening. Co-founded Norfolk's hackerspace, 757Labs.

William Martins
Over 15 years building .NET and cloud-hosted systems, most recently leading Blazor web app development for NATO Supreme Allied Command Transformation. Brings deep experience containerizing and operating Docker-hosted services — Ollama, Postgres, Portainer, Weaviate — across government and NATO IT environments.
LinkedIn

Nathan McGuirt
Founding member of AWS's Aerospace and Satellite team, leading architecture for space mission operations. Earlier in his career, he built the first U.S. Navy system to receive an ATO on public cloud.

Natalie Myers
Built her career in Navy cybersecurity and cloud authorization, including leading the IA effort behind the Navy's first AWS GovCloud IL4 accreditation. Develops RMF/ATO packages for Stigian's industrial base cloud hosting work.

Robert Neuman
Spent over a decade as a Navy civilian at NIWC Atlantic, helping establish the Navy's first Commercial Cloud Access Point and co-authoring the Navy's foundational cloud hosting security standards. CISSP-certified, with a background in U.S. Air Force logistics and IT.

Peter Nuwayser
Principal architect for the Maritime Cloud Environment and lead for Stigian's expansion into the European Union. Spent nearly two decades at Deloitte and IBM advising on hybrid cloud and enterprise AI coding assistants.
LinkedIn

Jason Swank
Leads architecture for a DoW IL5 GCP landing zone supporting AI/ML workloads on UNNPI data. Previously ran infrastructure and reliability engineering at Sonatype, supporting Maven Central's ~80,000 publishing organizations.

Jacob Tews
Supports Stigian's Industrial Base Cloud Hosting Environment and the Maritime Cloud Environment, including data lake design and DoW ATO delivery. Spent 15 years as a full-stack developer prior to joining Stigian.

Tim Wilson
Spent over a decade at AWS, most recently as an IoT Specialist Solutions Architect focused on autonomous systems and industrial IoT for the Defense Industrial Base. Co-author of AWS's public writing on the Maritime Cloud Environment and Navy shipbuilding modernization.
